Presbyterian Women

pw-logo.png

In 1916, Centre Presbyterian Church had a Women’s Missionary Society, organized by Mrs. Belle West Jennings. It also had a Ladies Aid group. In 1965, Presbytery suggested both groups merge to become The Women’s Association. In 1983, the name again changed. When the southern and northern Presbyteries united, the group became Presbyterian Women. It remains that as of today.

Presbyterian Women of Centre Church is a group of ladies who meet once a month from March until November. We have a lesson and a business meeting each time we meet. We, along with other volunteers, are responsible for the picnic in August, the turkey supper in November, and the pie sale in February.

Our mission is to promote the word of God and to assist people in need in the community and the world. Centre PWA currently supports Bethesda Mission, Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Child Fund, International, and the local Carlisle Presbytery with quarterly donations.  We also give yearly to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Fruitbelt Farm Workers, Medical Benevolence Foundation, and Ronald McDonald Charities.

Our current slate of officers are: Adelaide Kretzing, Moderator; Margaret Reisinger, Vice Moderator; Mondie Cunningham, Secretary; and Ruth Ellerman, Treasurer.
